Most consultations run by Zoom or phone, and mediations typically run by Zoom, so you can join from home, from work, or from anywhere with a stable internet connection. Florida’s Supreme Court supports virtual mediation under current state guidelines, and Charles serves clients in all 67 Florida counties this way. In-person sessions are available at the Orlando office for couples who prefer that format.
What to expect in your free consultation
Thirty minutes by Zoom or phone, structured to answer the questions that actually matter to your situation.

You describe what is going on. Where you are in the process, whether children are involved, what you have already done, what you want the outcome to look like. Charles listens. There is no judgment, no pitch.

Charles answers your questions. How mediation works in Florida. What it costs. What documents you would need to gather. How long it would take from first session to court-ready agreement. What happens if a particular issue is harder to resolve than the rest.

Together, you decide whether mediation fits. If it does, Charles outlines the next steps and how to schedule the actual mediation session. If it does not (because the situation requires a litigator, because there is domestic violence in the history, because one of the spouses is not ready), Charles points you toward the resource that does fit.
The consultation is confidential. Anything you say is covered by Florida’s mediation privilege under § 44.405 once you are engaged in a mediation process. The free consult itself is also kept confidential.
Who attends the consultation?
Either or both spouses, your choice.
Some couples prefer to do the initial call together so both can ask questions and hear the answers at the same time. Other couples prefer that one spouse handle the initial call and report back. Some situations call for separate calls with each spouse. Charles can accommodate any of these formats. If you are not sure, the joint format is the most common and usually the simplest.
If your spouse does not yet know you are considering mediation, a confidential individual consultation is fine. Mediation only proceeds when both spouses agree to participate, so an individual consultation does not commit anyone to anything.
A note on response time
Charles handles calls and email personally. If you call during office hours, you will likely reach voicemail rather than a receptionist. If you email, the reply will come from Charles, not an assistant. The trade-off of a small, focused practice is that responses come from the person you will actually work with; they may take a few hours rather than minutes. Expect a callback or reply within one business day.
If your situation is urgent (court deadline, immediate scheduling need), say so in the voicemail or email subject line and the response will move faster.
